Copyright
=========
SuperBase is distributed as SHAREWARE. Under this concept you may use
the SHAREWARE (unregistered) version for a reasonable period of time, which
I consider to be 30 days, after which you must either register your copy or
discontinue usage. The source or data files may NOT be altered in anyway.

If all of the following files are not contained the archieve you should not
attempt to use it as it may have been modified without the author's
consent.

Registration Benefits
=====================
UnRegistered Version: The evaluation copy is completely functional, except
for the following limitations:
Only 5 entries may be recorded.
15 second delay before exiting to bbs.
Registered Version: Requires registration code (see register.txt)
No limit on number of entries.
Registration name displayed at main menu.
i.e. "Registered to Castle Windmere"
Distribution
============
You are free, in fact encouraged, to distribute the SHAREWARE (unregistered)
version of SuperBase provided that all files contained in the original
SuperBase archive are distributed in their original unmodified state.
What is SuperBase?
=================
To be short, this is a bbslist database. It allows users to enter their
bbs info, including phone #, name, software used, etc. It will allow users
to view the entire list in 3 formats, short, normal or extended. And will
allow users to search for specific bbs criteria to look for. Optionally
they may view or download the list from within the door. I consider this
to be a BIG improvement over most BBSlist functions available from bbs's.
Neccessary Programs
===================
o A bbs program capable of producing one of the following drop files;
DORINFOx.DEF, CHAIN.TXT, DOOR.SYS, CALLINFO.BBS.
o DSZ.EXE or GSZ.EXE somewhere in your path or in the same directory as
superbase. This will allow users to download the bbslist.
o PKZIP.EXE somewhere in your path or in the same directory as superbase.
This program is utilized internally by superbase to compress the bbslist
and thus shorten transfer time when downloading it.
o A fossil driver is neccessary to run SuperBase. BNU or X00 will do
nicely.
Upgrading from 1.0
==================
If you wish to keep all your currert bbs records intact unarchive version
1.1 directly into your existing SBASE directory. Then rename the follow
files.
BBSDBAS.CFG --> SBASE.DAT
BBSDBAS.DBS --> SBASE.DBS
If running a registered version also rename
REGISTER.KEY --> SBASE.KEY
Then follow steps 3 - 6 below in the new installation section.
Installation
============
SuperBase is very simple to install.
1) Use the 'md' command from DOS to create a directory called SBase or
whatever you'd like. This should be off your main bbs directory, but it
is not neccessary as long as you know where it is.
2) Uncompress all files from the distribution archive into that subdirectory.
3) Edit the sample batch file to your needs and place it in your main bbs
directory.
4) Edit the sample SBASE.CFG file to your systems information.
5) Set up your bbs software to run the batch file.
6) Make sure that the programs DSZ.EXE/GSZ.EXE and PKZIP.EXE are
located within your path or in the same directory as SBASE.EXE
* The first time the door is entered it will create the neccessary data files.
Note: If you are the Sysop you will have the following additional options
when using the door.
Delete any entry
Edit any entry
Sysop Function Keys
===================
[UP]/[DOWN] - Use the arrow keys to increase or decrease the
amount of time which the user has left in the door.
[Alt]-[C] - Allows the sysop to break into chat with the user
at any time. [Alt]-[C] again, or [ESC] will end
chat mode. (Notice that the Want-Chat indicator
will also be turned off, if it was flashing. If
your door is running under Apex, RemoteAccess or
QuickBBS, paging from within the door will even
cause the Want-Chat indicator to stay lit when the
user returns to the BBS)
[Alt]-[J] - Allows the sysop to shell to DOS, if enough memory
is available. Simply type EXIT to return to the
door again.
[Alt]-[H] - Hang up on the user.
[Alt]-[K] - The "User Keyboard-Off" key allows the sysop to
temporarily prevent the user from typing anything
on their keyboard. This has no effect on the local
keyboard.
[Alt]-[D] - "Drop to BBS" key. This function allows the sysop
to exit the door and return the user to the BBS,
without hanging up.
[F1]..[F10] - The Function keys [F1] thru [F10] allows the sysop
access to various types of information on the
status line, or to turn the status line off. These
keys are as follows:
[F1] - Display basic door and user information
[F2] - Display phone numbers and important dates
[F3] - Display security flags and up/download info
[F4] - Display system information and current time
[F5] - Display message info and user's settings
[F6] - Display chat reason and sysop's comment
[F9] - Display help information for sysop
[F10] - Turn off the status line
